William Hill win inaugral 'breaking the mould' award for women in business

William Hill – The UK’s leading Bookmaker - took home top awards at the Breaking the Mould Awards on Tuesday night, securing victory in the Medium Corporation Category at the inaugural ceremony.
After making the shortlist back in December, William Hill beat off beat off tough competition in the final to take the FTSE 250 award and joined Vodafone, BAE Systems, and the Bank of England who also picked-up category awards.
The Financial Mail on Sunday’s Breaking the Mould awards, held in association with the 30% Club – a group of bosses committed to getting more women into boardrooms – were set up to celebrate those companies doing the most to create a pipeline of female leaders of the future.
William Hill Group HR Director David Russell collected the award and commented: ‘’for us, this is not just about breaking the mould, but creating a new mould in our business. William Hill is benefitting from progressing smart, focused and empowered women to the top of our business. Once there, they instantly become role models for our key executives of the future, both male and female. Judges were impressed by William Hill’s strong evidence of internal cultural change to help women progress in a male-dominated field.
‘The organisation has been appointing more women into senior, decision-making roles and is increasingly creating structures to help women progress, said: Dr Inces Wichert, Senior Psychologist, Kenexa High Performance Institute.
Whilst fellow judge, Sarah Rapson, Chief Executive, Identity and Passport Service, said: ‘’‘William Hill displays passionate female advocates in a male-dominated sector, truly 'breaking the mould'.
