The PSHE Association today adds its voice to the increasing number of individuals and organisations calling for Emergency Life Saving Skills to be included in the school curriculum. The PSHE Association joined the call for action by the British Heart Foundation back in May 2011 and reiterates its support today.
How to find sources of emergency help and how to use basic and emergency first aid currently features within the non-statutory PSHE education personal wellbeing programme of study at key stage 4.
The PSHE Association's proposal for a revised PSHE curriculum includes 'how to react in and emergency including administering first aid' in the health strand of its four strand curriculum framework - which the Association believes should be statutory.
