38% of the bets William Hill have taken on the forthcoming Eastleigh by-election have been for the Lib Dems to retain the seat – causing their odds to shorten from an opening price of 6/4 to become 10/11 odds-on favourites.
23% of the bets have been for a shock Labour victory, causing their odds to come down from 100/1 to 16/1; 22% have been for UKIP but only 17% have been for the Conservatives, who were originally installed as 1/ 2 favourites but have drifted out to 13/10 second favourites.
‘Unusually, we have seen plenty of money for all four of the potential runners and I would expect even more when the candidates are known – should Nigel Farage decide to stand it is likely to become one of the biggest betting by-elections we’ve seen’ said a William Hill spokesman.
TO WIN EASTLEIGH BY ELECTION……10/11 LIB DEMS; 13/10 TORIES; 15/2 UKIP; 16/1 LABOUR
