Comment on home affairs committee report on UKBA

The Home Affairs Committee has published a report 'The work of the UK Border Agency'.
Commenting on the report, Baroness Jo Valentine says:
“We agree with many of the Committee's conclusions, but its report is essentially backward-looking. The Borders Agency is working to make changes that should make it more effective at not only keeping out unwelcome individuals but, equally importantly, ensuring that we welcome those with the talents and skills to make a contribution to our economy and our society. The business and education sectors are keen to help as much as possible.
Skilled workers, students and tourists are vital to our economic health and we need to do everything we can to encourage them to come here rather than go to our international competitors.”
