Age UK response to CQC analysis of performance and risk in health and social care

Age UK's Charity Director General Michelle Mitchell said,
'This report shows that thousands of vulnerable and frail older people are receiving unacceptable standards of social care.
'It is unacceptable that over a quarter of the adult social care providers inspected were judged by the CQC to have failed to meet all essential standards of quality and safety.
'As the Government continues to prevaricate over funding and reform, the system of social care in England has reached breaking point – hitting the frailest, poorest and most vulnerable older and disabled people the hardest.
'Social care is not a luxury and when it fails, it results in people deprived of their dignity, health and independence.
'Age UK calls on the Government stick to the Coalition Agreement and publish the Social Care White Paper and Funding Progress Report without delay.'
