YPFP is a non-partisan group for young people working, or interested in foreign policy. It is a forum that allows an honest, informed and thoughtful discussion of international affairs. YPFP London was set up in autumn 2006. There are also YPFP chapters in Washington DC, Brussels and New York. The London chapter has over 600 members, from the civil service, politics, think-tanks, business, NGOs, and graduate schools. In total we have over 3,000 members across the four chapters.
YPFP London has held at least one event a month since we were set up, and has enjoyed an excellent list of speakers, including Dr. Liam Fox, Col. HR McMaster (then adviser to General Petraeus), Dr Kori Schake (adviser to Pres. Bush), Lord Hurd, Charles Grant, Dr. Robin Niblett and Lord Malloch Brown.
We have partnered with IISS and with the support of NATO's Public Diplomacy Division co-hosted a series exploring NATO's future. In 2009 we also ran a three seminar series, kindly supported by the American Embassy in London looking at US foreign policy in the Middle East, Asia and Europe. In Ocotober 2010, London will be hosting a visit by its Brussels chapter, kindly supported by the US Mission to the EU.
