Unite is the union for the 21st century. It was formed by a merger between two of Britain's' leading unions, the T&G and Amicus. It was created to meet the great challenges facing working people in the 21st century and is a democratic and campaigning union which fights back for employees in the workplace. Unite is taking trade unionism out to the millions of unorganised workers and is a union that stands up for equality for all and advances its members interests politically. Unite is also active on a global scale building ever stronger links with trade unions around the world to confront the challenges of the globalised economy.
It is the UK's largest trade union with almost 2 million members in a range of industries including, financial services, manufacturing, transport, print and media, the voluntary and non-profit sectors, energy and utilities, local government, education and health.
Unite campaigns both in the workplace and on wider political and social issues at home and abroad. It regularly comments upon government initiatives and proposals and responds to a wide range of consultation documents.
This microsite is designed to provide you with information about our key campaign issues and activities and includes links back to our own website at www.unitetheunion.com. The site also provides easy access to all the union’s submissions to government departments and other public agencies as well as the union’s press releases.
