EBLEX is the organisation for the English beef and sheep meat industry. Funded by statutory levy from farmers and processors, it is the beef and sheep division of the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board *(AHDB).

It exists to enhance the profitability and sustainability of the English beef and lamb sector and its primary aims are:
• To help the beef and sheep meat supply chain become more efficient
• To add value to the beef and sheep meat industry.
EBLEX is a recognised knowledge house for the livestock sector in England. and further afield. It undertakes a wide range of activities on behalf of levy payers and industry stakeholders, including publishing and analysing market information, promoting efficiencies on-farm for better returns, working to improve the environmental performance of the livestock sector, communicating the nutritional benefits of eating red meat and working to stimulate a profitable demand for beef and lamb, particularly in the current climate as exports continue to rise.
A specific focus of work in recent years has been livestock’s impact upon the environment and what producers can do to cut emissions while improving their financial margins. To this end, EBLEX has produced two environmental roadmaps which can be found in the publications section of this member site.
It also produces evidence-based, factual briefings for industry stakeholders, politicians, researchers and NGOs which can be found in the briefings link above. A wealth of additional resources, market prices and industry data can also be found at www.eblex.org.uk
*AHDB is a non-departmental public body (NDPB) which operates independently of Government but liaises closely with the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), its 'sponsor' department.
