CPRE exists to promote the tranquillity, diversity and beauty of rural England by encouraging the sustainable use of land and other natural resources in town and country.
We are an effective grassroots campaigning organisation that provides a sound, knowledgeable perspective on the pressures affecting the countryside by safeguarding precious Green Belt, promoting urban renewal and seeking to maintain the beauty and tranquillity of our countryside for all those who live in and visit it.
We work to ensure that necessary rural development respects the quality and character of the countryside. We need to conserve the things about the countryside that everyone values.
Effective democratic land-use planning is the unsung hero of environmental protection and has always been one of CPRE's top campaigning priorities.
We all have some power to influence the future of the countryside through our everyday decisions.
