7th June 2012Cross-fertilisation of good practice and ideas between the next generation of private, public and civil society sectors is to be championed by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), it has been announced.
"Transforming attitudes towards management and leadership is an urgent challenge for civil society and is vital to the sector’s long-term success," said Christopher Kinsella, Acting CEO of the CMI.
"Cross-sector mobility is an important part of the solution. Civil society must be prepared to learn from good practice in other parts of the economy and there will also be lessons which flow the other way."
Today CMI became one of the key Champion organisations making up the Leadership 20:20 Panel, which is responsible for inspiring and engaging a new generation of civil society leaders.
The institute will be leading on one of five key recommendations announced by the Leadership 20:20 Commission in December 2011 – encouraging mobility of leaders across sectors.
CMI is one of a group of Champion organisations making up the Leadership 20:20 Panel, chaired by Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson DBE, each of which will lead on implementing one of the Commission’s five recommendations. The Commission was established in 2010 following an NCVO-led enquiry and mandated with setting out recommendations for supporting emerging civil society sector leaders.
